  • • Antenatally, you can be referred by your medical team at any time during your pregnancy

    • Postnatally, you can be referred for up to six weeks for musculoskeletal issues e.g. PGP (after this time you should be referred to community physiotherapy).

You can access physiotherapy for up to 1 year after your baby is born with pelvic floor issues.

    • Gynaecological patients can be referred by their GP to the Gynaecology Department in the hospital and may be triaged straight to physiotherapy (non-complex issues).

We do not accept direct GP referrals for physiotherapy.

    • Antenatal patients experiencing bladder symptoms can fill in a self-referral form. They will be offered a place in the ‘Antenatal Bladder’ class. If necessary, the physiotherapist will organise an in-person appointment for the patient after having completed the class.

    • Gynaecological patients need a referral from the medical team.

  • For the most common conditions seen in physiotherapy we offer a group class as the first line in treatment. This class gives all the information about the condition and ways you can start managing your symptoms. A lot of the time, this will alleviate your symptoms. If you still need a one on one appointment after doing the class, this can be organised for you.
