Our Care Approach

Our dedicated and compassionate team is here to support you on this journey. At your first appointment, you will be seen by a member of our Fertility team who will take a thorough medical history. Recommended tests or investigations will be discussed with you and ordered accordingly. We recommend that partners attend this appointment where possible.

Depending on your individual circumstances, initial recomendations may include:

What Is Ovulation Induction (OI)?

  • Ovulation induction (OI) refers to the use of fertility drugs to induce ovulation in a woman who does not ovulate herself, or boost ovulation in a woman who is ovulating; this is known as ‘superovulation’.

  • Fertility drugs used includes tablets such as Clomid, Letrozole, or injections of hormones - Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) or Luteinizing Hormone (LH).

What Is Follicle Tracking?

  • When a woman is ovulating normally, an egg is released from the ovary during each menstrual cycle.

  • Eggs develop inside fluid-filled sacs, called follicles.

  • Just prior to ovulation, follicles reach a size of around 20mm and are visible on a transvaginal ultrasound scan.

  • Ultrasound scanning can be used quite effectively to monitor follicle growth, predict ovulation and advise timed sexual intercourse.

  • A transvaginal ultrasound is a scan performed using a probe that is inserted into the vaginal canal. It allows the clinician to assess the uterus and the ovaries. An empty bladder is required for this scan.

  • A hycosy (Hysterosalpingo-Contract- Sonography) is a safe and reliable procedure whereby a contrast agent is passed into the uterus during a pelvic ultrasound. This agent is visualised as it passes through the fallopian tubes which allows the clinician to assess if there are any blockages.

  • The phlebotomy/blood room is open Monday- Thursday from 8am-4.45pm and Friday 8am-1.30pm. It does not open on Saturdays or Sundays.
