Conditions Treated

The Miscarriage Clinic, founded in 2019 by Dr Mark Hehir as the Leaf Clinic at the Coombe Hospital, provides specialised care for couples who have experienced the heartbreak of miscarriage or pregnancy loss. As Lead Clinician, Dr Hehir is dedicated to delivering expert investigations, compassionate support, and tailored treatment for recurrent miscarriages and pregnancy losses later in gestation.

We recognise the emotional challenges that pregnancy loss can bring, and our service is designed to provide answers, reassurance, and guidance. With a focus on restoring confidence, we aim to help patients navigate their journey toward welcoming a new baby into their family.

At the Leaf Clinic, compassionate, patient-centred care is at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that no one feels lost or unsupported during this deeply personal experience.

FAQs

  • Two or more recurrent pregnancy losses are category for referral to the Leaf clinic.

  • Appointments are issued after receiving a referral. High demands are impacting the timing of an appointment. The waiting time for the recurrent miscarriage clinic is approximately 6 months.

  • The appointment will be issued approximately 4 month after the stay in the

hospital, allowing enough time for the results to be back and also providing time to be needed in case blood work has to be repeated. Bloods for pregnancy loss investigations should be repeated if necessary at least 12 weeks after the loss to allow pregnancy hormones to settle and provide accurate readings.
