About Our Service

The EAC is a single-entry point for all emergency / unscheduled admissions to the hospital including early pregnancy, antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology.

Our Dynamic multidisciplinary team offer expert emergency care in all areas of obstetrics, midwifery and gynaecology. We pride ourselves in evidence-based woman centred care. The EAC is a purpose build unit, with four private treatment rooms and a dedicated triage room.

Here we facilitate emergency diagnostic, treatment and management methods to ensure the best possible outcomes in all emergency situations. We liaise closely with all intra hospital departments and specialities in the provision of expert care for all who attend. In more complex cases our team collaborates with our colleagues in our linked general hospital to ensure comprehensive, multidisciplinary care.

We provide a 24-telephone triage service (01 408 5216) where a midwife is available to answer any queries. Our department is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred care throughout each woman's healthcare journey.

  • If you are attending and breastfeeding we encourage you to bring your baby with you. We cannot facilitate infants or older children.

  • Not all results will be received on the day you attend. You may receive a follow up phone call if there is an abnormal result, otherwise you will be informed at your next appointment.
