About Our Service
The Coombe Hospital Enhanced Endometriosis service commenced in 2021. The clinical leads for this service are Dr Hugh O’Connor and Dr Hugh D. O’Connor. The service is supported by our pain team – Dr Sabrina Hoesni and specialist physiotherapist Kate O'Brien.
The service provides care for women who have received a definitive diagnosis of endometriosis from stages 1-4. Care is provided holistically with an emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach, both medically and surgically.
Since the service was established it has grown rapidly, initially there was one specialist clinic monthly. There are now 2 clinics weekly and the service has welcomed a 3rd consultant, Dr Alison DeMaio. The service is also assisted by a specialist dietician Aisling Kenny, providing valuable education to patients.
The service is coordinated by Alison Bowes - Clinical Midwife Specialist. Alison provides a vital interface between patients and clinicians and has assisted in the development of a national patient information guide, for women diagnosed with endometriosis.
