About Our Service

The Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology Clinic is dedicated to the management of adolescents with gynaecological concerns. The clinic accepts referrals nationally as it is one of only three hospitals with a dedicated Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (PAG) service. The PAG team (Consultant and SpR) at The Coombe Hospital also attend the PAG clinic in CHI at Temple Street, where care is offered to younger patients.

A significant proportion of our referrals are for adolescents with additional developmental needs who require specialist input for the management of their menstrual issues. The clinic sees patients from the age of 12 upwards and the hospital offers admission for theatre where required from the age of 15 upwards.

In addition to addressing general gynaecological issues, the department offers comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and management for:

Delayed puberty and primary amenorrhoea

Differences in sexual development

Menstrual dysfunction

Mullerian anomalies

Premature ovarian insufficiency

Ovarian masses

FAQs

We accept referrals from GPs and from consultants based in other hospitals. All referrals need to be directed through the gynaecology administration team.
The clinic is led by a consultant and you will meet either her or a member of her team at each visit.

Appointments:
All appointments can be directed through Hospital reception: 01 408 5200, 24 hours a day
Health Insurance:
We operate a direct payment scheme with VHI, Laya Healthcare, Irish Life Health, Garda Medical Aid, ESB, Medical Provident Fund, and Prison Officers Medical Aid. If you are covered by any of these insurers, the relevant insurance forms are signed electronically on your admission to hospital.
