Physiotherapy Videos for Postnatal Care
Pelvic Floor & Urinary Incontinence
In this video we will talk about your pelvic floor muscles and the different types of urinary incontinence that affects so many women in pregnancy and beyond.
Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercises
In this video we will discuss how to do pelvic floor muscle exercises. These exercises are important in preventing and treating urinary incontinence, prolapse and for strengthening ‘our core’.
Returning to Exercise and DRAM
In this video we will talk about how to gently strengthen your abdominal or tummy muscles after pregnancy.
We also discuss diastasis recti (separation of the rectus abdominis, or “six-pack” muscles) and how to check for the separation of these tummy muscles.
Breastfeeding and Exercise
Moderate exercise while breastfeeding has many benefits. It can improve mum’s health and has a positive effect on emotional well- being.
This feeling of well-being, improved energy and reduced stress levels can enhance maternal-infant relationship. For information speak to our physiotherapy department
Your Baby – Growth & Development
The information in this booklet is a guide to your baby’s development. It is important to remember that each baby will develop at their own rate. Your baby will follow a general trend of development and will reach their milestones at their own pace and not at a fixed time. Do not push these developmental tasks ahead or too quickly, each phase is important for overall development.
Babies and children learn through play. The movement and interaction provided during play provide foundations for development of motor, sensory, perceptual, cognitive, language and social skills.
We have included some ideas of what you can do with your baby when they are awake. Initially this will be for short periods of time but as they get older this time extends. Be careful not to over stimulate your baby when awake and make sure to look out for their tiredness cues. All babies have ways to communicate - you just need to listen and learn.
