

About Midwifery
IntThe Coombe Women & Infants University Hospital (CWIUH) has been chosen as the hub site for the Centre for Midwifery Education. The Centre, which was established in 2008, delivers continuing midwifery education to midwives in the three Dublin maternity hospitals, as well as to midwives in the greater Dublin area.
About Midwifery
The CWIUH also provides the following training programmes:
4 year BSc in Midwifery Pre-Registration Programme (in association with TCD)
18 month Higher Diploma in Midwifery Post -Registration Programme (in association with TCD)
Postgraduate Diploma in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (in association with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, the Rotunda Hospital and the National Maternity Hospital)
The CWIUH continues to participate in the multicentred, randomised control trial, ADCAR, which is being carried out to assess the value of routine electronic fetal monitoring on admission.
The hospital also hosts the annual Essence of Midwifery Care Conference and the Maureen McCabe Lecture (held on the International Day of the Midwife).

Midwives and Nurses from The Coombe Hospital have been supported with funding (partial and full) and study leave for further education. Our staff have studied at our affiliated university, Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and in other universities. (The School of Nursing & Midwifery, TCD, is ranked 1st in Ireland, 5th in Europe and 25th in the World, in the QS World University Subject Rankings 2018).

If you are living and working in Ireland and have the PRSI contributions or you have a medical card you can access free maternity and newborn care.
Semi Private Clinic
The semi-private clinic is a fee based option. Most women who choose this clinic use private health insurance to cover costs. .
Private Clinic
There are a number of consultant obstetricians offering services through our private clinic. Antenatal care fees vary between consultants..

All appointments can be directed through Hospital reception: 01 408 5200, 24 hours a day -
Health Insurance:
We operate a direct payment scheme with VHI, Laya Healthcare, Irish Life Health, Garda Medical Aid, ESB, Medical Provident Fund, and Prison Officers Medical Aid. If you are covered by any of these insurers, the relevant insurance forms are signed electronically on your admission to hospital.
