Surgical Mask Usage
Surgical masks are no longer mandatory, although healthcare workers women and designated partners may choose to wear them. Surgical masks or respirator masks should be worn by healthcare workers, women and designated partners in all settings where a patient has influenza-like illness, which includes COVID-19.
Respiratory Symptoms
Patients
All admitting patients with respiratory symptoms must be isolated and perform a COVID-19 antigen test. If the test is negative, perform and send a respiratory panel PCR. All Influenza and COVID-19 cases require a follow up PCR (day 5 for COVID-19) if asymptomatic for the previous 48 hours to determine further isolation.
Nominated Support Partner (NSP) is COVID-19 Positive/ Respiratory infection
COVID-19: NSP cannot enter hospital until completing 5 full days of isolation from onset of symptoms or positive test result (whichever comes first) and is asymptomatic for the previous 48 hours.
All other Respiratory Infections: Cannot visit until they are asymptomatic for the previous 48 hours.
In line with public health policy, everyone attending the hospital must wear a mask to protect yourself, other women and our staff, so that we can continue to provide services.
If you have a derogation for wearing a mask, you must provide evidence of this.
