COVID Testing

Women are being contacted in advance of their surgery to ensure that those requiring general anaesthetic for their procedure are symptom free and to arrange a COVID-19 test 24/48 hours in advance of their surgery.

These tests are undertaken in a designated area adjacent to the Hospital’s COVID-19 Assessment Unit in the Visitors Car Park. They are normally performed between 9am and 10am, Monday to Saturday.

External tests results will be accepted if they are tested in a hospital based laboratory, within the timeframe.  Only hardcopy results will be accepted (text messages do not qualify).

If it is not possible to arrange an external hospital based laboratory test, then arrangements will have to be made to have the test taken in CWIUH in advance of the admission.

You will be contacted with the test results to confirm that your scheduled procedure will progress as planned.

Pre - Operative Assessment

You will also be seen by an anaesthesiologist before your surgery, for more information please visit the pre-operative assessment section of this website - linked below.
