Education and research are vitally important in the provision of high quality clinical care to patients. The Coombe Hospital is the foremost academic institution in women and newborn healthcare in the country with undergraduate and medical students from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) attending the hospital and a strong postgraduate research association with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
The BSc in Midwifery and the Higher Diploma in Midwifery is provided in association with TCD, the Postgraduate Diploma in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing is provided in association with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
The Coombe Education Centre, which is shared by TCD and the Centre for Midwifery Education, incorporates classrooms, a library and the Rita Kelly Conference Centre, and has greatly enhanced onsite education.
The hospital hosts the UCD Centre for Human Reproduction and has an important strategic relationship with Trinity Health Ireland.
