Filming & Photography

The Communications Office will do its best to accommodate filming and photographic requests, particularly any requests associated with our charity, Friends of the Coombe. Journalists should remember that we are a busy teaching hospital, and a number of requests must be declined for that reason. Enquiries can be made in the first instance by telephoning the main switchboard on 01 4085200 and asking for the on-call Press Officer.

Details of filming requests must be made in writing, including dates, specifications, number of filming personnel, equipment. Sufficient notice is required in order to negotiate and agree terms of filming. You will be asked to provide a copy of your Public Liability Insurance Certificate.

We may require you to pay a fee for accommodating your request. We do not generally facilitate filming or photographic requests which do not relate to the work of the hospital. However, if we choose to do so, there may be a fee.

You will be required to follow our Infection Control procedures. Hand gel must be used on entering the hospital and moving from location to location. We will also ask you to leave some of your equipment away from clinical areas when not in use.

Your crew will be accompanied by a member of staff at all times. No patients or staff may be filmed without obtaining their written consent.

  • Written consent to filming must always be obtained.
  • Please do not film or photograph any patient who has not consented.
  • Filming must not interfere with a patient's treatment or care
  • Filming must not intrude on other patients in the ward
  • Patient, staff and your own safety must come first at all times.
  • Patient privacy and dignity must be respected at all times.
  • Do not film or photograph charts, or vehicle registrations, in order to protect patients who have not consented.
  • Filming must not interfere with the running of the hospital

Parking is extremely limited. Crews may unload at the main entrance and wait for a space in the public car park. Car parking charges will apply.
