Help us make maternity care better

A new, nationwide survey of Ireland's maternity services is about to begin!

This survey asks women who have recently given birth about their experiences of maternity care. The aim of the survey is to identify where Ireland's maternity services are performing well, and where improvements are needed.

Women aged 16 years or older who give birth in October 2019 in the Coombe Women & Infants University Hospital are eligible to participate in the survey.

In February or March 2020, they will be contacted by post with details on how to participate in the survey. The survey contains questions on the care received while pregnant, care during labour and the birth of your baby, and care after the birth. The answers you give will be processed in strict confidence.

The survey is being carried out by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Department of Health under the umbrella of the National Care Experience Programme.
